Each November, Pueblo’s creative spirit comes alive through one of the community’s most cherished traditions, the Handwoven Holiday Sale presented by the Handweavers Guild of Pueblo. Now celebrating its 50th year, the event continues to bring warmth, artistry, and a deep sense of tradition to the southside. This year’s sale runs Nov. 4-8 at Wesley United Methodist Church at 85 Stanford Ave., across from South High School.
The sale is a cornerstone of Pueblo’s holiday season, known for its exceptional craftsmanship and the unmistakable charm of handmade work. What makes the event remarkable is the purpose and passion woven into every item. Shoppers will find handwoven clothing, rugs, tapestries, bags, home décor, Christmas ornaments, and cards, all created by local fiber artists who preserve and elevate the art of weaving through skill, patience, and imagination.
I still remember the first time I attended the sale years ago, when it was held at the historic Vail Hotel. As a newcomer to Pueblo in late summer, discovering this event felt like uncovering one of the city’s treasured secrets. I was immediately drawn in by the craftsmanship and the creative energy flowing from every table. It was, and remains, one of the most inspiring shows of true genius and talent in southern Colorado.
This year, the guild continues its longstanding tradition of welcoming guest artists whose work complements the woven pieces on display. Featured this season is potter Christine Archer, known for her elegant, functional ceramics, and jeweler Rhonda Moreschini, whose pieces bring a refined sparkle to the show. Their presence adds dimension to the event, offering shoppers a broader selection of handcrafted gifts that share the same spirit of artistry and care.
Accessibility has always been part of the magic. Whether you are searching for a meaningful holiday gift, a unique piece for your home, or small items to fill stockings, there is something for every taste and every budget. Visitors often leave with more than they expected, drawn in by the colors, textures, and thoughtful designs that make handmade goods feel personal and lasting.
The atmosphere of the sale is equally special. Artists greet visitors with warmth, sharing the stories behind their work, the techniques they use, and the hours invested in each piece. Shoppers gain insight into an art form that prioritizes slowness, intention, and connection. It is an experience that stands apart from mass-produced holiday shopping. It offers a moment to pause, appreciate artistry, and invest in items that carry the maker’s hand, history, and heart.
The 2025 Handwoven Holiday Sale takes place Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and continues Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 5 to 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The final day, Saturday, Nov. 8, runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year’s promotional materials highlight the event’s clarity and simplicity, a visual nod to the beauty and purpose visitors will find inside.
